I am glad to hear you had this realization of where your money went vs what the things you were buying were actually providing. Meaningful experiences is definitely what we should be focusing on, and I have come to this realization as well. For me that is also traveling, as well as experiential things like riding motorcycles (I will rent one for a week or two wherever I am traveling/living at the time), taking language classes (currently learning Portuguese!), and yoga courses.

My friend, well… unfortunately there has been some infidelity in the marriage, and they are currently considering divorce. She also is thinking of a career change but isn’t quite sure what direction to go.
