Thank you for this article and info, Lindy! I am brand new to Medium so not sure if this is accurate regarding the claps/payout, but I recently read somewhere that each clap is valued based on the percentage of claps each member uses that month.

So for instance, if I only clap for one article during the month, the author of that post will get my entire $5 of my month’s subscription fee (or minus whatever Medium may take off the top, if any). But if I clap for 100 articles, that one clap loses substantial value.

I’m sure there’s more to it and if anyone knows if this is accurate or not I would love to know :)
